The American Joint Distribution Center, founded during World War 1, sought those Jews in Soviet Russia, who were now deprived of their civil rights. Jewish trades did not comport with Soviet Trades. To achieve civil rights, the Joint organized Jewish collective Farms (150,000 farmers) and established trade schools to teach acceptable trades.
